"Refuge" is a word that carries different meanings for different people. It can signify escaping calamity, war, or trauma, but it can also manifest as a person, a feeling, a place, a poem, a song, or a community. This event is an opportunity for individuals to share their personal interpretations of refuge in a safe and welcoming environment. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own poems, stories, or spoken word pieces to participate in an open mic session.
The highlight of the evening will be a performance by the newly appointed Worcestershire Poet Laureate for 2023/24, Damon Lord. His words are sure to inspire and captivate the audience as he explores the theme of "Refuge" through his poetic lens.
In the spirit of giving back, the event organizers welcome donations on behalf of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC). Every contribution will make a meaningful difference in providing refuge and support to those in need.
