Short Bio

Damon Lord (pronouns: he/him) is a writer of fiction and poetry, originally from Wales, and an Associate Lecturer in English Language. He is currently studying a PhD in English and Creative Writing, exploring audience interaction with serial form narrative.

Longer Bio

Damon Lord (pronouns: he/him) is a writer of fiction and poetry, originally from Wales. He now lives in the West Midlands of England with his wife and child. He is an Associate Lecturer in English Language with the University of Worcester, and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).

He has been writing since he was six years old. Damon has been a core performer at 42, Worcester's premier genre (SF, fantasy, horror, etc.) fiction and poetry spoken word night since its inception in 2011. He loves reading, writing, Freemasonry, and history. He also served as Worcestershire Poet Laureate 2023/24. His literary influences include Tim Lebbon, Arthur Machen, H.P. Lovecraft, Zen Cho, S.P. Somtow, Spike Milligan, and Armistead Maupin.

In the spring of 2024, Damon finished a Masters degree in Creative Writing with merit at the University of Hull, and began a PhD in English and Creative Writing starting in October 2024 at the University of Gloucestershire, exploring audience interaction with serial form narrative.

Damon is visually impaired in one eye, and a keen supporter of disability and LGBTQIA+ equality and equity. Damon has been a keen supporter of disability rights since the early 1990s. One of his first public speeches in 1997 was a polemic on the inadequacies of the UK's Disability Discrimination Act 1995.

Damon speaks numerous languages, including English, Esperanto, German, and some Mandarin Chinese, French, Portuguese, and Tagalog. He is currently learning Welsh, and Old English.
